Brad gave some advice regarding filing claims. If you make a claim to fix some damage but the amount is under your deductible. You’ll still end up paying for it yourself but the claim will be put on your record as unpaid and could affect your future rates or ability to get insurance elsewhere. Of course, if the claim is a large amount or is critical to fix then go ahead of file the claim.
If the claim can wait, then don’t rush to file the claim until getting estimates and doing research into costs. Even if it’s above the deductible a small amount, it may be better in the long term just to pay for the fix yourself and save your record.
