Howard Meyer is our Chamber of Commerce member. Howard provided us with a summary of the economic development projects underway for Skokie. In 2014, there were 380 new business licenses issued. In 2013, Skokie was the leading community in Illinois for retail growth. Future developments include: On Touhy, there will be a new development with Panera, Goodwill Store, fast food outlet; On Skokie Blvd, a Bank of America, AAA Automotive, Chick Fil-A, Culvers; In downtown Skokie, Traeger Furs will become a Chase, the former Wintrust site will be a restaurant; the 8001 Oakton Building will be the site of the State of Illinois services; Dempster will have a Murray’s Auto Store. There will be a new Dunkin Donuts on Golf. New exciting additions include the probability of a pharmaceutical firm taking over the Ohmite site, The expansion of the FedEx facility, and revamping of the Forest City site. Erica Minchella, David Putrus and Howard sit on the Economic Development Commission for Skokie. Remember Howard Meyer and the Skokie Chamber of Commerce and Industry when you hear your associates mention that they are looking to expand the business marketing by joining the chamber or the Skokie business community.
