Mark spoke about the Internet of Things. The ever growing list of network connected items that can be purchased today. Smart watches, refrigerators, thermostats, even insulin pumps. All that can be controlled wirelessly through networks. He told of a time he was in Japan on a business trip 15 years ago. Already they were modeling a new kind of store that would track what was being put into a customer’s cart and they would only have to pay by credit card before leaving. We’re starting to see that here now.
All these products collect data on the users which can be analyzed to make decisions about user’s buying habits. They also provide a entry way into other machines on the same network and give hackers access to more information you may not revealed so Mark suggests putting the products on different networks.
