Mark Litin 8-23-17
Mark talked about some of the implications if your email has been hacked. If a crook can gain access to your email account they will know a lot about you and can use that information to impersonate you to someone who knows you in order to get that person to do something.
To prevent this Mark stressed the importance of strong passwords, not clicking on links in emails, using programs that will encrypt what is said in an email.
Email lists are sold on the “Dark Web”, a black market for hackers. Hackers will use computers to try every possible combinations of words. To check if your email is on any one of these sold lists check on https://haveibeenpwned.org
